40 weeks & 2 days pregnant, Midwife appointment

Today I had my midwife appointment, hopefully my last one πŸ˜‰ we shall see! she just did the usual urine test, blood pressure etc. she tried to feel him and he was having none of it today kicking around haha. So stubborn!!

She said his head is engaged, but not engaged enough to give me a sweep 😦 So I’m going to get back on my birthing ball and try to bounce him down! She made an appointment for next Thursday (that’ll be 5th Jan by then omgggg.) and if he isn’t out by then she will give me a sweep and book me in for an induction!

Come on you stubborn little baby πŸ™‚

Thats basically all that happened today, so its just a short post πŸ™‚

40 weeks pregnant – IT’S MY DUE DATE!

Well.. Here we Β are. Due dateeee and I still feel nothing arghhh. Maybe I’m just getting a tad impatient now, I can’t wait to meet my bubba! I suppose the latest they’ll leave me before inducing me will be the 10th January. So I’ve just got to pray that this little monkey wants to make an appearance before then! I’m only about 5 foot, I didn’t think I was capable of carrying a baby for this long haha.. My only worry is that he’s continuing to grow and grow and I don’t think I’m going to be able to give birth to a 9 pounder πŸ˜‰ We shall see πŸ™‚

Here are some photos I took this morning! I have had a very active baby today already… I’m going to try and stay pretty busy today, although its hard because I literally have no energy. I want to save most of it for labour!

img_1581img_1575

I hope everyone had a good Christmas πŸ™‚ It was a quiet one for me this year!

Me and my mum and dad Christmas Day 2016 πŸ™‚

As you can see my bump comes in handy for lots of things haha, don’t think I’ve mentioned him before but this is my dog Whiskey. He is literally my baby that I’ve had for the past 6 years.. Introducing him to the baby is something that I’m pretty nervous about, I know he will be fine with him but I don’t want him feeling jealous or left out! I don’t really know how to prepare him!

So lets hope that my next post is a baby post rather than a pregnancy one!

39 weeks 4 days pregnant!

39 weeks. 4 days. hello. I really really didn’t think we would meet this pregnancy.. This baby is really giving me a run for my money haha!

This week has been a bit all over the place, my bump photo would have been my 39 week and 1 day photo I believe.. and I have had yet another hospital trip.. Woo(!)

So now my baby is practically ready to come out and we are just playing a waiting game, waiting for him to make an appearance. For some reason he’s deciding he wouldn’t like to come out for this Christmas and he will wait instead πŸ˜‰ Unless he decides to come tomorrow during Christmas dinner.. oh how eventful that would be!!

I can’t remember whether I’ve written about it here but last week I was getting bad headache and visual disturbances which was not nice in the slightest. I didn’t really think much of it and went to bed, then I didn’t have it that bad again until Thursday just gone, 22nd I believe. Luckily I had midwife appointment that day at 11:30 anyway so I went to my midwife appointment and told her what was happening. She took my blood pressure and it was so high for me.

I didn’t have protein in my urine which makes a change because she’s just started to ignore it with me seeing as I’ve had protein in my urine since day 1. haha, she rang up labour ward and sent me straight into hospital. She got me a little psyched up because she told me they’d probably induce me because of my blood pressure..

We got to the hospital at about 12:30 and they had me on the heartbeat monitor, re-did all the tests, took bloods etc. My blood pressure was still high for me, but it wasn’t high enough for them to be concerned apparently. I have never been so stressed! I couldn’t see, my head was pounding. They were doing blood tests and testing me for pre-eclampsia which came back all good. After a lot of waiting, they told me they were not going to induce me and basically hooked me up onto a drip, which is where I stayed until about 7;30pm when they finally let me out. I honestly do not want to return to that place until my baby decides to make an appearance!

Very very bad quality photo haha but I thought I’d put it here anyway πŸ˜‰

Here is my 39 week bump! πŸ™‚

Kirsty x

38 weeks 5 days pregnant!

I’m not really noticing that many changes now as I’m coming to the end of my pregnancy, one thing that I definitely have noticed though is my change in hormones. I will some days just literally cry over anything and everything and then the next day you won’t even want to speak to me. I’m in that ‘impatient/fed up’ stage now where I really just want him to come out of me!

At the same time, I’m starting to really worry about labour now, I am useless with pain and I know its going to be an interesting experience.. It will all be worth it though πŸ™‚ Seeing the midwife again on Thursday, probably my last appointment.. If I make it that far πŸ˜‰ I will be 39 weeks and 2 days!

I can’t believe that I’m nearing the end! Hopefully he isn’t going to be a Christmas Day baby for his own sake! πŸ˜‰

I’ll show you my 38 week + 5 day bump…

Whats in my baby’s wardrobe?

So now I finally have the time to take all the pictures that blogging demands I am going to do a whats in my baby’s wardrobe post! Yes, I know before anyone tells me that he has an immense amount of clothes and he probably won’t wear them all. But they’re clothes that I have bought and also, clothes that people have given me as gifts. Most of his clothes are from size 0-3 months but there are a few clothes in there that go up to 12 months old! So I’m going to get started..

img_1302

Here is just the over-view of his wardrobe, obviously its a double wardrobe one side is which I use and then this side is his side πŸ™‚ I love the space in this wardrobe theres a large shelf at the top which is actually height adjustable so I could have had it at any height I liked. I love the 3 baskets which I have used at the top here, these are from B&M. I can’t remember 100% how much they cost but it was somewhere around Β£3 and Β£6 I want to say..?

Then there’s just all of his clothes on the rail, I do have little dividers on the rails just to divide his clothes up a little, I couldn’t find any of the plastic ones that were UK Based so I have just ended up using some card ones but they do the job. I’ve also hung his clothes up using the Mothercare ‘Gro-hangers’ they are just plastic baby hangers but they have the opportunity for you to ‘extend’ the hanger so that it can be used up to 12 years. These hangers are a bit pricey in my opinion. They are Β£4.99 for 6 hangers. The amount of money I’ve spent on hangers, I dread to think!

Then at the bottom there is a large space for storage! Which I could fit loads in if I wasn’t to have the bath there. It won’t be there all of the time I don’t believe.

So in the first basket, going from left to right, I just have his hats, bibs, dummies and muslin cloths. This sounds like a lot to have in one basket but it all seems to fit quite nicely at the moment πŸ™‚

In the middle basket I just have all of his booties, soft bottomed shoes and socks! He has tonnes of socks now!

And then in the last basket, I have all of his little toys etc. He has some soft toys, a sophie la giraffe which I actually never knew squeaked.. my dog is going to be petrified of this haha. He’s got a space dreamer spiral toy which I am going to put on his carseat for him to play with. He has a little caterpillar toy which sings songs and a musical car toy with teething keys on the end. And then he has some large soft building cubes.

img_1310

Then right in the right hand corner of the top shelf I have kept his baby book and a small baby box that I am going to use for him. And I also have some bits from my own christening which I have never really had a home for and I just thought they’d be cute to keep there.

img_1312

Then for his rail.. first I just made a ‘night wear’ section. Β I have literally moved these little pyjamas from place to place being inside the chest of drawers to just hanging with the clothes to god knows where else haha. Just behind this divider he currently has 2 pairs of PJ’s which I believe are 0-3. And a geo-bag which I absolutely love! It is in the size 0-6 months so it looks huge! Look below;

img_1313

Next I have the ‘first size’ section, most of his clothes are within this section and the next 0-3 section.

img_1315

I love the patterns on these dividers, they’re all individual and so so cute.

img_1316

Next here is his 0-3 section, some of my favourite bits of his clothes are this size! I love them!

img_1317

Now here is the 3-6 months section, He has a few bits and bobs here but I should probably get some more. I don’t want too until the new season clothes come out though hehe!

Then I’ve just put these two photos together for the last 2 sections because they don’t really have many clothes in, which is the 6-9 and 9-12 month section. These clothes have come from friends etc and the jumper in the 9-12 months is a shirt from Zara which I am sooo in love with. I bought it in 3-6 and 9-12 I believe!

And then for the bottom of the wardrobe Β I currently have;

His sock monkey Harry which I previously did a post on, His hospital bag, a baby bath obviously. I don’t think this will stay there permanently but it’s holding a few bits at the moment and it fits well here whilst it’s not in use. I’ve got a little toy turtle, this also takes the temperature of the baby’s bath water. There is a travel mirror for my car which I put onto the headrest so I can still see baby whilst I’m driving even though he is rear-faced. There is a cute little mobile that my mum got for him for when he has a cot. Then I’ve got some maternity towels and nipple pads. And his baby monitor. This is the tommee tippee closer to nature baby monitor, which comes with the sensor pad.

Then behind the baby bath I have a pair of wellies, it is a bit of a random story really. My sister gave them to me after she was trying to order a pair of size 6 wellies for my 16 year old niece. Silly woman had only gone and ordered them in a child’s size. I know he won’t be wearing these for a good few years, but they will come in handy when I need them!

Whats in my baby’s hospital bag?

Okay so I’ve done my whats in my hospital bag post so now I’m going to do my baby’s!

img_1342

This is my baby’s bag which I am also going to use as his changing bag once he is born, I’ve also got attached to it a lovely silk bag from the cuddle company, who if you haven’t seen on Facebook already search them because they do amazing products. I’ve got him a personalised blanket and taggiez which I am not going to show because they have his name on which I want to keep secret until I announce his birth ( if he ever decides to come πŸ˜‰ )

Starting with the front zip..

img_1343

So inside the front zip there is a little wash bag that I’ve put in for him and inside there he has got;

  • A packet of wipes – I’m not sure if I’ll need more but they can always be gone and got for me.
  • 2 hats – one little blue hat and one navy bobble hat which is sooo cute! can’t wait to see this on him πŸ™‚
  • 4 pairs of socks.
  • 1 pair of slipper booties – I doubt I’ll use these but they’re there anyway. I might use them to keep his feet extra warm coming home.
  • Small grooming set – nail scissors, hairbrush and comb

img_1344

Then on the other side of the bag theres a zip which you can zip down to turn into a changing mat which I think is quite handy! In here he has got;

  • 2 muslins – I’ve heard they’re quite helpful
  • 2 tubes of metanium cream.
  • Nappies – I can’t actually remember how many nappies are in there. I think around 16 nappies.
  • Nappy bags

img_1346

In the main bit of his hospital bag I literally have packed it with clothes.. In here I’ve got;

  • 1 blanket – he will also have his cuddle company one too πŸ™‚
  • 4 baby grows, I think 2 are in first size and 2 are 0-3.
  • 5 vests, again in those 2 different sizes
  • 2 pairs of tracksuit bottoms – For extra layering and going home outfit..

Then inside the main bit also there are 2 quite large pockets, in these pockets I’ve just put;

img_1347

  • 2 little comforters
  • 2 dummies – I’m on the fence about dummies, I’m not 100% sure if I want to use them but I’ve put them in just incase.

Thats literally everything I’ve got in his hospital bag.. I don’t think I have missed anything! I am also thinking about putting a bottle in, just incase I decide not to breastfeed as this is another thing I’m on the fence about.. or incase he is unable to latch!

Whats in my hospital bag?

So I just decided to do a blog post on whats in myΒ hospital bag! I will also do another one for whats in my baby’s hospital bag πŸ™‚

img_1337

Okay so I’m just using this standard hold-all type bag, it’s just one that we have had in the cupboard for a while and one we use sometimes for hand luggage etc when we go on holiday. It’s only going to be used the once and its only going to hold my things so doesn’t need to be anything glamorous!

So ill start with the side pockets, there isn’t anything in the front pocket as the zip doesn’t work! but I’ll start with the left side pocket;

img_1339

So in the left pocket I’ve got:

  • 1 carrier bag – after looking at other peoples posts and videos they’ve advised a carrier bag for any dirty washing or baby clothes that may get dirty etc. That way the other things in my bag are not getting dirty.
  • Hand sanitiser – Pretty self explanatory, with a newborn and all that I want to make sure my hands are extra clean!
  • Wall plug – I will probably take my main one with me but I wanted to make sure that I definitely had a plug in my bag as when I’ve spent time in the hospital before I’ve forgotten a plug and haven’t been able to charge my phone which was a nightmare!
  • 2 camera batteries – on top of the battery that is currently in the camera. I want to make sure I have enough battery life to take photos πŸ™‚
  • A mirror – I’m not really sure why I placed this in the side pocket and not in my make-up bag.. but that’s just where it is!
  • Headphones – Mainly for early stages of labour or after the birth to listen to music, watch films etc. This will be helpful for if I have to stay in hospital for a period of time.
  • Wash bag – I’m not using this wash bag for my essentials such as shampoo etc. I have literally filled the whole bag with nipple pads!

In the right pocket I’ve got;

img_1338

Okay so for the right pocket I have got;

  • My makeup bag – which I’m going to put a few bits in such as an eyeliner pencil, lip balm, a hair tie, bobby pins etc. My mirror should probably go in here too but hey!
  • Phone charger case – This is more for an emergency, if I can’t charge my phone for some reason etc. I have fully charged this and will just need to connect it to my phone!
  • Makeup wipes – don’t really need to write anything about these..
  • Camera – Fully charged and ready to go! To make sure I get lots of photos πŸ™‚

Now for the main part of the hold-all;

img_1340

So in the main bit of my hospital bag I have got;

  • Dressing gown – I don’t usually wear dressing gowns, but this one is from Newlook and its extremely soft! I can’t wait to wear it..
  • Underwear
  • 1 towel and 1 flannel, I wanted to get it in a dark colour, black, blue etc but red also works!
  • 2 pairs of pyjamas
  • Fluffy slipper socks! – These are so cute and soft, also I’m not really a fan of slippers so I will probably just wear these socks as they have got the grips on the bottom.
  • Comfortable clothes for going home in – I’ve got some vests, my hollister tracksuit bottoms, these are the softest things I have ever worn, no lie.
  • Wash bag – I will put a photo below in a second of what I’ve put in here.
  • Lots and lots of maternity pads – apparently I’m gunna need them!!
  • I also have baby’s snowsuit/coat in my hospital bag as it can’t fit into his!

In my wash bag I have got;

img_1341

  • A new toothbrush
  • Small tube of toothpaste
  • Travel sized version of my shampoo and conditioner.
  • Nipple cream
  • Cocoa butter for my stretch marks..
  • Travel sized shower gel
  • Razor (just incase)
  • Dry shampoo incase I don’t want to wash my hair.
  • I will also put my hair brush etc. in, but obviously I need that at the moment.

Thats literally everything I have put into my hospital bag, I doubt I will use everything I’ve put in here but I like to make sure I’ve got more than what I need rather than less!

37 weeks and 5 days pregnant!Β

This child must be seriously comfy in there, he just doesn’t want to budge.. either that or I’m getting very impatient πŸ™‚

I’ve tried a lot of things to try and hurry him up! Yoga ball, fresh pineapple, speed humps.. he’s having none of it! Hehe πŸ™‚

Took my car for a clean inside and out yesterday ready for his arrival.. it was a complete tip! Can not believe I let it get like that haha!

His wardrobe is absoloutley full to the brim now, finally finished buying hangers.. the amount of money I must have spent on hangers is unreal.

FullSizeRender-2.jpg
Here is an overview of his wardrobe! I do want to do a wardrobe tour.. this is not all one size by the way, it ranges from newborn, 0-3 which is what the majority of these clothes are then it goes from 3 months to 1 year πŸ™‚ I can’t wait to see my baby in them!!

He’s such a fiesty baby (midwives words) he doesn’t stop moving and I can constantly feel him turning and grabbing whatever in there!

I’m getting pretty nervous for labour now, wondering how it’s going to go and how I’m going to handle it! I may surprise myself!

Another thing I’ve been thinking about just latley is how I’m going to feed him. I have been set on breastfeeding this whole pregnancy but expressing also so that I can have a hand with feeding.. then I turned my mind to combination feeding between breast and formula milk but that whole process just confuses me. So I’m not sure whether to just stick with breastfeeding if I’m able to, just give him formula or try and get some advice on combination feeding..?

Here is my 37 week 5 day bump! I can finally say he is the size of a watermelon! πŸ˜‰

I’m not even sure if I’ve dropped yet or not.. he’s been pretty low down the whole pregnancy…

3 weeks left!!Β

I’m 37 weeks pregnant and I’m so ready for this little boy to come out! He’s so active it’s almost like he’s trying to break out himself! πŸ™Š

Tried long walks which tired me put more than did anything to move baby boy along – haha !

Tried this beauty.. maybe this will help. (It’s also a great leg work out!πŸ˜‰)

IMG_1198.JPG

It’s so weird thinking I only have 3 weeks left.. I was 2 weeks old by now!

36 weeks 5 days pregnant!

Well the last fortnight has been eventful thats why I missed a blog post!

Tuesday 29th November I got out of my car at work and thought my waters had broken so straight to the hospital for me.. they didn’t say too much. They did a urine test and said they didn’t think they had gone but can never be 100% sure. They examined me with the spectrum which caused a bleed and a 2 degree trauma (according to my notes) so they put me up on the ward to monitor me all day and do pad checks. We were literally at the hospital from 8:30am – 6:00pm I was so tired when we left!

I had the next day off of work I was meant to be finishing work for maternity on 9th December but I went into work the next day and decided that it was time to cut my losses and he was telling me that it was time to stop, so I finished work Friday just gone. (2nd December) I’m going to miss all my little ones! even though I’m going to pop in quite a bit to see them for my uni work πŸ™‚

I bought a baby book and box which I’m excited to start writing in for him πŸ™‚ theres nothing now that I really need to get for him apart from a breast pump, but I’m going to wait and see if he is able to latch before I go and spend money on that.

I saw the midwife today and he’s still head down πŸ™‚ she told me that my bump is pretty much all baby! and he’s currently measuring at 33cm. According to my pregnancy+ app he currently weighs approx. 5 lbs and is still the size of a Honeydew. (which I’m still none of the wiser to what one of those are;))

I spoke to the midwife about my birth plan today too, my mum wants to cut the cord! (that could be eventful;)) and I said that I would like a water birth πŸ™‚ I’ve always wanted to do it that way so we shall see how that plans out πŸ™‚

Heres my 36 week 5 day bump πŸ™‚

I feel like none of my clothes are fitting now! even the ones that were coping stretching over my bump haha. Not much longer to go now so I don’t want to buy anything! I may get some nursing vests.. but thats probably it!
